I'm looking for a photo today that typifies what my yard and garden looks like in the dead of winter.
When I don't prune everything back in the Fall, it pretty much turns into a mucky soggy mess. The snow and rains beat everything down, and it looks horrible. But even the dried hydrangeas can have some beauty, if you look at them the right way. They may be brown, but the petals still are delicate and full of detail. These will all be cut back in the Spring, but for now, here is my flower of choice in my winter yard.

  1. I did read that the timing of when you prune these is imperative. Perhaps I'll get brave and plant a few.
